Skateboard, the essence of the X Games (I part)

Year after year, new skateboard whiz kids come to light in order to foothold in such a demanding competition with top level skaters.


Luan Oliveira shows in the famous section the Thrasher Mag, "Firing Line", that he could make a dramatic line as long as he wants. The Brazilian rider who's only 22 made his mark in Barcelona when he won the Barcelona Extreme Street competition in 2010. He combines the evidence of Street League, which always ends up in the fight for the final podium and sharing videos that travel around the world as "Extremely Sorry". Do not forget his fellow Brazilian, Pedro Barros, the world's best in Park, where he constantly shows a unique and incomparable style with his spectacular springs above the coping (metal edges of the ramps).

Paul Rodriguez always delights us at the X Games. with four gold medals (two consecutive) and a silver and copper one, he's one of the most successful riders in street skateboarding. P-Rod, as he's called, is one of the most influential skaters and benefits from most of what is distributed by the skateboard industry. A few years ago, Paul Rodriguez was in Barcelona presenting their brand slippers sponsor and let people see his talented "ironing" tricks at different parts of the city.

Ryan Sheckler is also one of the favourtite ones on the list. He won his first gold medal at the X Games Skateboard Park in 2003, being the youngest in the precious metal hang. Now he's got 6 medals among which are three golds (Park Street), two silvers and a copper. Sheckler's life has taken many tumbles and after some time focused on marketing his image on TV and commercials, he's gone back to work full time so as to become the great figure hewas years ago. Now, he's always in the finals of the prestigious Street League.

In the classic half-pipe, the important figure is the Canadian Pierre-Luc Gagnon, who's won 8 gold medals at the X Games and 3 gold ones in the overall calculation of the Dew Tour. This has set a very high standard in the half pipe. Defined as a possessive for control, he shows this personality trait onto his skating within his huge air safety and grinds. Gagnon is one of the most technical riders in the international scene and one of the favorites in the run to the victory.
