Skateboard, the essence of the X Games (II part)

Year after year, new skateboard whiz kids come to light in order to foothold in such a demanding competition with top level skaters.

We cannot forget mentioning Tony Hawk: away from competitions, still the sport's world standard and the best on Vert, though. More than 20,000 people enjoyed his skills and style on the ramp in 2010 at the Paseo de la Barceloneta. At an exclusive interview with La Vanguardia, Tony Hawk (a Barcelona lover) said that "The celebration of the X Games over the next three years in Barcelona will change the relationship of the city with extreme sports; society will see them as the product of a minority culture. Everything will be regularized and find its place. It will be under control. "Hawk will be part of the X Games in Barcelona as a commentator skateboard competitions.

New generations play hard and the maximum representative of this fact is the North American Tom Schaar, who was only 12 when he got a gold medal at the X Games Asia after "boarding" a 1080 Big Air competition, becoming the first rider in history to get it. In the X Games 2012 in LA, he suffered two knockdowns in the second jump, which made his partner Mitchie Bruco get a silver medal, after losing the 900 in the Big Air.

One of the greatest star of these recent years is Nyjah Huston (X Games gold in Skateboard Street in 2011). This young American is the current winner of the last two editions of the Street League. No doubt his awesome talent, specially on rail and the aggressive stairs, made him one of the best street skateboard riders.

Last but not least, we have David Gonzalez, Thrasher 2012 rider. He's on track to become a living legend of skateboarding. Aggressive skater and fan of unimaginable tricks, this young Colombian who is 22 is thought of being owned by the skateboard. With a hard and fast skating, his shares are some of the most viewed videos on the network. We were speechless when we saw his impossible rails, jumps and inhuman bird flown on his 'Possessed to Skate'. The picture of him linking 2 jumps of 16 staircases will stick to our minds forever.
