Trick of the week: Backflip
Backflip is one of the most famous tricks in that lies in permoning a backward somersault in the air
To perform a Backflip the most important thing is to get lots of power previously so when the ramp launches the rider into the air there is time enough to turn a somersault. The maneuvre consists of doing a vertical jump so as to perform a backward somersault in the air. It has to be in a vertical view in order to fall from the top freely. The invention of it came from the north American Bob Kohl’s mind about 1993 with his Honda CR80. Backflip has been developing and other categories have been adapting it to their disciplines. For example, in tandem with Kohl, the Californian Bob Haro was the first BMX rider to set a backflip in the 90’s. In skateboard, the mythical Rob “Sluggo” Boyce was the first skater to do this trick in 1998. The first car backflip came few days ago. It was exactly in Tignes, in the hands of the pilot Guerlain Chicherit who made his mini turn in the middle of snow-covered mountains. The brother of the Backflip is the Frontflip, whose difference is that this trick is done in the opposite side.
