31.000 m² of extreme competition
Four big references of the sector have designed, with the next generation material, the venue of X Games Barcelona
What will happen in X Games without them? They are equally essential that riders but many times, as when we arrive to the event are already there, we are not aware of the great work that exist behind them. We are referring to the 'venues', where the best specialists of the moment will fight to win the medals in X Games Barcelona between 16 and 19 May.
A venue that will be located in the heart of the Olympic Games Barcelona '92 and that it will make a great image in Montjuic with Barcelona in the background. But for all this, the designers have been working for months to make the best show possible. And names like Jessie Olsson, Eric Peronnard, California RampWorks or GlobalRallyCross have been responsible for designing, under the tutelage of X Games, the 31,000 square meters of X Games Barcelona. An equivalent amount, for example, the dimensions of five Camp Nous.
For MotoX disciplines, the two great gurus of the moment, Peronnard and Olsson, have been those who have devised paths. And for this have made use of 12,000 cubic meters of soil. Or what is the same, the land enough to fill an Olympic pool five times. Peronnard, who is based in Miami, has made the Enduro circuit. On the other hand, the Californian Jessie Olsson is responsible for the Freestyle, Best Whip, Speed and Style and Step Up that this is a famous ramps designer. As a curious note, he has a track with ramps that the top riders go to practice. In what refers to RallyCross, which will be played in the Olympic Stadium, the GlobalRallyCross has been the the designer.
And finally, the Skate and BMX venues manager is one of the most important company in the sector, California RampWorks. The quality of their venuess are the delight of the riders and that is why X Games has relied on this company for four years. As a curiosity, and that shows the quality of this work in the construction of venues, are their Parks. And, thanks to the latest generation materials, the rider has the feeling that he is sliding on a concrete runway, when it really only has a minimal layer of cement. All this, and while the eyes of the viewer is not something obvious, improves performance and increases competition.
So, the phase of the venue construction will start this Monday, April 15. Operators of California RampWorks will take the esplanade Olympic ring to start the construction of the Street and get everything ready for the next May 16 because this day the greatest show arrive to Barcelona with the X Games.
