Dany Torres: "Where some people see the fear I find the fun"
He chose the Moto X Freestyle due to its higher degree of risk and adrenaline
In 2011 he won the bronze medal at the X Games. That same year he won the title of Red Bull X-Fighters. Competing at home motivates him and he goes to Barcelona with the objective of repeating medal in front of his people.
Dany Torres was born 26 years ago in Arahal, town in Seville. When he was 3, the Spanish rider had his life guided and his passion revealed: motorbikes. It was at that age when little Dany rode a motorbike for the first time. At age 15, captivated by the art that pilots came off in the air, the rider from Seville began in the Freestyle, and later he had to decide between MX or FMX. He found it very easy to choose the FMX. "It’s the discipline I most like, I decided to go into it because it has a higher degree of risk and adrenaline". In case something does not go well he always turns to his father. "Every day he is supporting me and helping me at all times". His father is his improvised mechanical engineer.
Dany Torres arrived to Barcelona after a spectacular season start. A second place in Mexico and a first position in Dubai, placed the Spaniard at the top of the ranking in the Red Bull X-Fighters. Despite this incredible start, he doesn’t want to stop winning because "the season is very long and complicated and there is a lot of work to do". Although the bad weather has prevented him from correct preseason training, he feels "very well". If we consider how he started last season, it doesn’t have to surprise us when he says he’s feeling good. A foot injury and subsequent surgery prevented him from doing a perfect first stretch of the season, but he improved at the end of 2012.
2011 was a year he did better than he could expect. "I remember 2011, the year I was Red Bull X-Figthers World Series champion and got the so valued first medal at the X Games. It seems that in this year my dreams came true".
Accustomed to success and victories, the Spanish rider tries to stay focused on what is coming next instead of thinking on what he has already accomplished. Dany Torres shows joy and quality in all of his jumps. “Today, my priorities and goals are the same ones that I had when I started riding. My goal is to keep jumping and competing in all the events I can, but above all, and most important, is to enjoy what I’m doing. Where some people see the fear I find the fun”. Undoubtedly, one of the most important events for this 26 year old driver is the X Games Barcelona, that will occur from May 16 until May 19. This date is highlighted in his 2013 calendar. “Jumping at my country is the best thing to do, the spectators are always cheering for local riders. It’s always a pleasure because they help you, and motivate you”.
