Bucky Lasek, king of Vert, also seeks glory in RallyCross

First skater to get gold in two consecutive years, and one of the leaders of this discipline, is now trying to compete at the same level in all four wheels

Never a robbery was so effective. No one had told Charles Michael Lasek, he wouldn’t even imagine, that the theft of his bicycle at age 12 inspired him to try Skateboarding. You can identify him as the true ruler of Vert and one of most respected athletes and winners of the biggest show of action sports, the X Games.

Bucky, how he is called since childhood because his father was also nicknamed like that, is a Skateboard legend and an institution of the X Games. Born on December 3 of 1972 in Baltimore, Maryland, the American has a sublime curriculum: he participated 34 times in this event, achieving 15 medals, 6 of them gold (the last one in Foz do Iguaçu ), 7 silver, and 2 bronze.

Known for his fluid and light way of skateboarding, the star of Baltimore is distinguished as one of the most consistent athletes and he is the first skater in the history of the X Games in getting the gold medal in two consecutive years (1999 and 2000). He repeated this feat in 2003 and 2004. Unfortunately, Lasek hasn’t had everything simple and easy in his life. Multiple knee and ankle injuries have been a constant in his career. He says "it's normal, you're always suffering and hurting yourself”. His good attitude and persistence has placed him in the top level of this action sport.

Outside the ramps, Bucky Lasek is known for his appearance in the first five Tony Hawk’s videogames, in Bam Margera's film Haggard or episodes of Viva La Bam MTV, among others. No doubt, it’s necessary to comment that Lasek’s obsession for this sport can be easy illustrated. He has the world’s largest “bowl” in his courtyard, which is referred to as “Heaven”.

The American athlete is also known for his other passion: racing. He has always been passionate about cars and the proof is that he immediately wanted to start competing in official races. Bucky started in Moran Raceway, owned by Rocky Moran, who was surprised by Lasek’s speed and technique. Moran persuaded him to continue competing on four wheels. After improving his technique in some tournaments, his legendary status now goes beyond the Skateboard.
