We already have the first X Games Barcelona medals

Bucky Lasek has been the great protagonist winning the gold in the Skateboard Vert Final

The first edition of the X Games Barcelona starts with three skateboard disciplines. The first one was held on the Esplanade of the Olympic Ring, where the Select Series took place. In first position we found Manny Santiago, with a score of 43.60 that allows him to classify to the SLS Qualifier to be held tomorrow at 2:30pm. Greg Lutzka (40.90), Felipe Gustavo (34.20), Evan Smith (32.30) and Jackson Curtin (31.10) complete the Top 5 in this competition.

By mid-afternoon, and in the same place, it was the turn for the Skateboard Park. Curren Caples managed to be first, ahead of Brad McClain, and Raven Tershy. The rest of skaters that made it through for the Skateboard Vert Final tomorrow at 14:30 were Pedro Barros, Alex Sorgente, Kevin Kowalski, Ben Hatchell, Rune Glifberg, Tom Schaar, and Andy Macdonald.

The first day ended with the battle for the medals at the Skateboard Vert final. The public attending the Piscina Municipal de Salts have seen how the leading contender, Bucky Lasek, has repeated gold with a score of 88.745 in a thrilling final. Marcelo Bastos took silver, and the 16 year old Mitchie Brusco, bronze. The winner of the gold medal declared the following: "I came here to enjoy and had nothing to lose. I can't believe it, another gold medal. I'm living a dream."

Earlier in the morning Taddy Blazusiak delighted us with a repertoire of tricks on his bike. We also had the visit of the FC Barcelona outstanding player Dani Alves, who witnessed the Vert final and officiated the ceremony of medal delivery in the first final of this X Games Barcelona. Shortly before more than 1,000 children visited the Palau Sant Jordi and the Park, watching live the training sessions of their idols. Finally, highlight the great work of the volunteers who have participated in the working process to get the Olympic Stadium ready.
