Motor shaped robots
The main brands of the motor world invest a great deal of resources in the creation and research of perfect machines to make them winners
Together with RallyCross, Enduro is one of the youngest disciplines existing nowadays in X Games. Its arrival in Los Angeles in 2011 completely changed the motor concept and took a radical turn in what it had been seen so far in this competition. Enduro removes the best of trial and motocross to join all in one circuit designed to put both motorbikes and its pilots to the limit. All kind of obstacles are included in this circuit: jumps, rocks, trunks, ponds, etc. A total spectacle we will be able to enjoy next May, 18, in the Montjuic Olympic Stadium.
Apart from the pilot skill, like in all the competition, the 'machine' also plays an important role. In Enduro, motorbikes are divided into two big blocks: 2T and 4T. The first one comprises two cycle motorbikes with furious motors and a small motor and has an abrupt accelerator response and bear the cubic capacity of between 50 and 300 cc. The 4T, however, the accelerator has a progressive response but the motor has much weight and a level of difficulty superior to its little brother. The cubic capacity of these motorbikes ranges between 250 and 550cc.
Once we know the two big models of motorbikes, it is time to know the machines that have gone a long way in X Games. The first to crown the extreme circuit in 2011 at the Staples Center was the well-known for Barcelona fans, Taddy Blazusiak. The Polish, recently Enduro Indoor Barcelona champion, is one of the main KTM pilots and his aggressiveness and skills made him grown to become one of the international scene leading figures in this discipline. His KTM 350 EXC-F 2013 has been able to revolutionize the category of E2 with a maximum output of 45 CV. This is an ultra-compact engine with 57.5 mm diameter and 88 mm stroke that comes equipped with a modern electronic fuel injection that makes a bike with a very efficient and very controlled traction on any terrain. It also includes a selection called PowerParts, it can command for changing the engine settings even from race through a laptop. Finally, another novelty is the DOHC cylinder, it has four titanium valves ultralight with rocker just 8 millimeters and with DLC coating, it allows a high level of rotation up to 12.000 rpm.
If Blazusiak won in 2011, in the last edition the first place won the rider Mike Brown and KTM, one more time, was the champion. The American has his KTM 450 SX-F 2013. A bike that stands out for its lightness -with a chassis designed specifically for weight loss-, performance and manageability. It has the SOHC engine of 449 cm³ that offers a number of features and it has a capacity of 60 CV. It also has a butt totally reconfigured with a lightweight and compact construction and that works only with a camshaft that reduced weight rocker controls the four titanium valves. All this allows up to 11.500 rpm.
In addition with the bikes of champions, should not put aside the other riders such as Cody Webb, second in the latest edition of X Games, or Justin Soule, himself who hung the bronze medal in 2011 for behind Blazusiak and Brown. Thus, Webb is supported with its mark Beta RR Enduro 2T 250/300. The main characteristic of this bike is its engine performance, easy handling and low weight that does not diminish reliability in the extreme conditions. Justin Soule, meanwhile, opted for Kawasaki KX450F that one of the most reliable engines in the race, it has an advanced technology which the rider, with the push of a button, you can reconfigure the engine and adapt within seconds to ground conditions.
